The National Drug Council was established by Cabinet in July 2000. Its primary role is to provide a forum for stakeholders to meet and exchange information on all drug related initiatives in Trinidad and Tobago.

The composition of the National Drug Council reflects agencies that are involved in demand reduction, supply control, security issues, enforcement and financial monitoring.

The National Drug Council is mandated to monitor, evaluate and co-ordinate the implementation of the National Drug Master Plans.
